We are a not for profit association, named Hermes Trismegistus School of Self Knowledge.
Why Hermes Trismegistus?
Hermes Trismegistus is a towering figure from ancient Greece and ancient Egypt who is associated with excellence in communication, wisdom, medicine and science. In Egypt, Hermes Trismegistus, (‘Thrice-greatest Master’) is associated with the Egyptian Thoth, the god of truth. Thoth’s Emerald Tablets give us a rich insight into a world of knowledge and possibility for man, accessible to us all if we know where and how to look:
‘Know, O man, that light is thine heritage, know that darkness is only a veil. Sealed in thine heart is brightness eternal, waiting the moment of freedom to conquer, waiting to rend the veil of the night.’ Tablet 4
Know Yourself!
The ancient Greek temple in Delphi states: ‘Nosce Te Ipsum’, translated as “Man, Know Yourself and you will know the universe and its gods!” This signifies, in modern terms, that the degree to which a person knows themselves permits them to know the world around them. This same inscription also states:
‘If you do not find within yourself that which you seek, neither shall you be able to find it outside….Within you is hidden the treasure of treasures.’
More recently, but in keeping with our theme, Galileo Galilei, the Italian sage of the fifteenth century, said: “You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself.”
Our Hidden Nature
Our classes take their inspiration from the knowledge and texts spoken of in these ancient eras and refer to the innate nature of Man and his potential to develop himself.
We present these teaching in a modern format, and give information on how to access our hidden nature, our ‘treasure’ or Essence. As Samael Aun Weor states:
“The type of work we are referring to is of a Psychological nature. It deals with a certain transformation of the present moment in which we find ourselves. We need to learn to live from moment to moment.”
Discover our Potential
We will present a set of practical and theoretical information that aims to lead any interested person by their own observations so that they can know their own qualities and potentials, and how they can reach self-improvement.
The accompanying practices of relaxation, concentration and meditation complement the talks and are conducive to self-discovery.
Through our own efforts we will be able to verify the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, and others who have taught in the same vein, urging man through the ages to ‘Wake up, know yourself!’
